In call from New York, PM urges Hafiz Naeem to postpone long march

Hafiz Naeem, however, said the JI would continue its struggle against the levy and would not call off its protest until the petroleum levy was abolished. “We will continue the struggle and will not give up the protest until the levy is abolished,” Hafiz Naeem said.

The JI emir said he would consult the party leadership on whether a break of a few days should be taken during the long march.
Meanwhile, the JI’s train march against the petroleum levy reached Multan, where Hafiz Naeem addressed a rally. He said the people should be freed from what he termed an “extortion tax” on petrol, maintaining that the petroleum levy was unacceptable under any circumstances.

The JI has been campaigning for the abolition of the petroleum levy and has continued its protest movement across the country.
