IISLAMABAD —UN Secretary-General António Guterres met Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State Talal Chaudhry in Islamabad, with the two sides discussing the global and regional situation and matters related to peace missions.
During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan was fighting a global war against terrorism and claimed that 25 terrorist organisations were currently operating in Afghanistan, posing a major threat to world peace. He said the international community needed to work together to counter the threat of terrorism.
The interior minister said Pakistan would continue playing its full role in United Nations peacekeeping missions. He added that Pakistani police officers and personnel were also serving in the UN Police. Naqvi said Pakistan had sacrificed 181 lives while participating in UN peace missions.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres said Pakistan’s participation in UN peacekeeping missions had always been significant and appreciated the country’s contribution to global peace. The interior minister also thanked Guterres for the United Nations’ support to Pakistan during natural disasters.
