Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said Nawaz Sharif had directed Dr Muhammad Najeeb Naqi Khan to submit his nomination papers for the AJK president's office.

Earlier, the Chief Election Commissioner had issued the formal schedule for the election of the new AJK president as part of the constitutional process., the election for the new president of AJK will be held on September 24, 2026.
