Sindh Assembly passes resolution against any move to divide province, create administrative units

The resolution was presented in the House by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and was unanimously approved by the members present.
Following its passage, PPP lawmakers stood at their seats, holding banners inscribed with the slogan, “Sindh is the motherland.”, Sindh is one and will remain one, while every proposal seeking to divide the province or alter its boundaries is rejected. It also rejected any plan to separate a district, division or any other area of Sindh.
The resolution stated that any move to detach any part of Sindh or place it under federal administration would be opposed. No compromise would be made on the province’s unity and territorial integrity, while the assembly would exercise its constitutional authority over any proposed change to Sindh’s boundaries.

The resolution further called for respect for the constitutional rights and territorial integrity of all federating units. It said any debate concerning the restructuring of the federation should take place in accordance with the Constitution and with the consent of the people.
It also urged the federal government and all political parties to respect the democratic decision of the people of Sindh, declaring that the unity of Sindh stands above political affiliations. The resolution stressed that the province’s historical, constitutional and territorial identity would be protected.
The Sindh Assembly’s resolution will be sent to the President, Prime Minister, Chairman Senate and Speaker of the National Assembly.
