IISLAMABAD —Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said that every side will have to take a step back to find political solutions to political problems. Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar said he did not deny having meetings with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, adding that such meetings continued to take place.
He said negotiations should take place, but the political environment was currently cold and no progress had been made. He said PTI would not violate any law during its protest and would not block roads.
He also assured that government resources would not be used for the planned long march towards Islamabad. Regarding court proceedings concerning the September 27 protest, Barrister Gohar said the court should not have sought an affidavit from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa inspector general of police.
"Stay connected with Aman-e-Pakistan for ongoing live reporting and verified investigative updates."
He said an impression should also not be created that the people and police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would confront each other. Barrister Gohar said efforts were being made to enhance the capacity of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, adding that the province had spent Rs45 billion on its police department last year.
He said PTI would ensure that there was no political interference in the police. Regarding the powers of the chief minister over the police, he said they would not be used on personal preferences and that steps would instead be taken to improve the police department.
