Wicked and Wicked: For Good to get live concert screenings with full orchestras

“Fans of Wicked will soon have the chance to experience the musical films in a completely new way, with Wicked and Wicked: For Good set to receive live concert screenings accompanied by symphony orches…”
The special events will combine screenings of the two Universal films with live musical performances, allowing audiences to watch the movies while an orchestra performs the scores in real time. The concert screenings are scheduled to begin next year.
The experience will bring the music of Oz to concert halls rather than simply presenting the films as conventional cinema screenings. Audiences will hear the songs and score performed live while the films play on screen, creating a hybrid between a movie screening and a live Wicked performance.
The concert series will feature music from both Wicked and its 2025 sequel, Wicked: For Good, giving fans the opportunity to experience the full two-film story with live orchestral accompaniment. The original Wicked film, released in 2024, starred Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.

The adaptation brought Stephen Schwartz's Broadway score to the big screen, including songs such as "Defying Gravity", "Popular" and "The Wizard and I."Wicked: For Good continued the story in 2025, completing the cinematic adaptation of the stage musical.
The second film expanded the story as Elphaba and Glinda faced the consequences of their choices while the Wizard's regime tightened its grip on Oz. The live screenings will offer fans another way to revisit both films while hearing the music performed by professional orchestras in a concert setting.
Rather than replacing the original performances, the format is designed to add a new live dimension to the cinematic experience. The announcement also reflects the growing popularity of film-with-live-orchestra events, which have become a way for studios and orchestras to bring major movie scores to audiences in concert venues.
More details about the participating orchestras, venues and performance dates are expected to be announced as the live Wicked screenings approach.
