“The opening ceremony of the 7th Annual Neuro-Oncology Symposium was held at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah attending as the chief guest. Karach…”

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab and medical and healthcare professionals from across the country also attended. Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that when JPMC was transferred to the Sindh government in 2011, no funds had been allocated for the hospital in the federal budget.

The provincial government immediately provided funds to prevent the hospital from shutting down. He said Rs700 million was approved for JPMC in 2011, marking the beginning of regular government funding for the hospital.

He said the Sindh government decided in 2016 to enter into a partnership with donors for JPMC, under which the provincial government would match the amount contributed by donors. The partnership significantly increased the hospital's budget and led to considerable development over the following years.
