The comedian’s attorney, Ronnie Bitman, claimed in a September 3 filing in Broward County, Florida, that musician Brian Evans threatened to release an explicit video unless Thompson paid him. Evans previously opened for Thompson’s long-running Las Vegas residency at the Luxor Hotel and Casino.
The filing included an email in which Evans allegedly demanded $500,000 “in immediately available funds” in exchange for resolving claims against Thompson. Evans denied threatening to publish any video, telling. Page Sixthe email was “intended to be confidential”.
He also claimed the footage “was deleted a long time ago” under a previous settlement. Evans has alleged that Thompson sent him unsolicited sexual footage in 2022 or 2023. He is seeking to overturn a 2024 settlement, claiming he lacked the mental capacity to enter into a binding agreement after suffering psychiatric injuries linked to the 2023 Maui wildfires.

Thompson’s representative, Jami Schlicher, had been declared a “vexatious litigant”. A federal judge cited at least 15 cases Evans had filed since 2025, which “appear frivolous”.
The report follows news of Thompson’s hospitalisation on Friday following a reported suicide attempt, according toTMZ.Schlicher confirmed he was “recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs”, while requesting privacy for his family. His weekend performances at the Luxor were cancelled.
