    Speaking to a private TV channel on Thursday, senior PML-N leader said the talks were underway with the PTI leadership. The PTI had previously postponed its planned march to the federal capital from September 27 to October 4.

    The party has said the protest is intended to demand the release of its founder, Imran Khan, and what it calls the restoration of constitutional supremacy. Sanaullah said the government had made arrangements to prevent participants from entering Islamabad if the PTI leadership did not withdraw the proposed protest.

The PML-N leader said the Constitution laid down a procedure for imposing governor’s rule, adding that the option remained under consideration in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

    However, he said any such move would have to follow the constitutional process and receive parliamentary approval. Commenting on PTI’s decision-making, Sanaullah said social media-based figures were influencing the party’s course. He added that PML-N President Nawaz Sharif continued to guide the party and that his opinion and approval were sought on major issues.

    Sanaullah said decisions concerning the provinces rested with parliament, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would present the government’s position when the matter came before parliament.
