PPP Chairman Bilawal urges political solution before governor's rule, emergency

“Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said political parties should find a way forward before imposing governor rule or emergency. Addressing a ceremony marking the launch of a sew…”
Addressing a ceremony marking the launch of a sewage treatment plant in Karachi, Bilawal said water scarcity was a problem across the country, but Sindh, particularly Karachi, was more severely affected. He said Sindh and Karachi were not being provided their due share of water.
He said the province was receiving less water than its requirement and Karachi was also not being supplied water, despite specific provisions for providing additional water to the city. The PPP chairman said water scarcity was not only a Sindh issue but a national problem, although the situation in Sindh and Karachi was more serious.
He said work on various projects to improve water supply in Karachi was being accelerated. Bilawal said a 25-million-gallon water treatment project had also been inaugurated in Keamari a few months ago. He added that efforts to serve Karachi would continue and measures were being taken to improve water supply for its residents.

Expressing grievances against the federal government, Bilawal said Sindh was not being provided its full share of gas either. He questioned the criticism directed at Sindh despite the province not receiving its due supplies of water and gas.
The PPP chairman once again stressed that Sindh and Karachi should be provided water. Bilawal also described terrorism as a major national issue, saying terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan directly affected Karachi. He said terrorism should be treated as a national rather than a political issue and everyone should play a collective role in combating it.
Bilawal said attacks were being carried out from Afghanistan and alleged that India’s involvement behind terrorism was also evident. He described governor rule and emergency as constitutional measures that could be used when necessary, but stressed that political parties should sit together and find a solution before such measures are considered.
