    At a press conference at the Faisalabad Press Club, the speakers strongly criticised the decision to hand over the minor's custody to the man accused of abducting her, warning that the ruling could expose her to further abuse, intimidation, exploitation and coercion.

    The press conference was addressed by Advocate Akmal Bhatti, chairman of the Minorities Alliance Pakistan, Joseph Janssen, Advocate Haroon Michael, Sadaf Adnan and Amber's mother, Nadia Nadeem.

    The speakers urged the government, police and judiciary to take immediate measures to ensure Amber's safety, recover her from the alleged perpetrator and place her in appropriate parental or protective custody., Amber was allegedly abducted by Mohsin Liaquat on June 12, 2026. An FIR was registered under Section 365-B of the Pakistan Penal Code at Raza Abad Police Station.

    Police later arrested the accused, recovered Amber and placed her in protective custody. On June 27, she reportedly members of the accused's family had coached and pressured her to claim that she was an adult.
