Responding to a point raised by Senator Mohsin Aziz regarding her health condition, he said the government was particularly sensitive to the health and welfare of individuals in detention and would ensure that their rights and medical needs were fully protected.

He said Noreen Niazi was shifted to hospital on the advice of doctors, adding that decisions regarding her treatment, hospitalisation and any further medical intervention would be taken by the medical professionals concerned.

"The decision about whether a person is ill and what treatment is required rests with doctors," he said, stressing that medical care would be provided in accordance with professional advice and established procedures. He added that her family was present at the hospital and the government had fulfilled its responsibility by arranging the necessary medical facilities.
