    Addressing the inauguration ceremony of electric bus service in Multan, she said criticism was being directed not at her personally but at Punjab’s development. She defended the use of the official aircraft, saying the Rs9 billion plane belonged to the office of the Punjab chief minister and would not become her personal property.

    Maryam said she had also visited flood victims by boat and noted that every chief minister had access to an official aircraft.     The chief minister said the new electric bus service would charge a standard fare of Rs20, while women, students, persons with disabilities and citizens above 60 would travel free of charge. She said electric buses would operate on all major routes in Multan and include wheelchair ramps and CCTV cameras for women’s safety.
