Abbas finished 12th in the qualification round, securing a spot in the final. His 7.28-metre effort also marked a personal best,. However sources said that Ansar had done 7.69m in Karachi National Games and 7.55m in National Championship.
“These people don’t take our national championship statistics. And I think they have considered this keeping in view his international record and I think its personal best in international circuit,” the source said. Uzbekistan’s Anvar Anvarov topped the qualification with a jump of 8.00 metres, while India’s Murali Sreeshankar finished second at 7.84 metres.
Japan’s Yuki Hashioka was third with 7.74 metres. Abbas’s performance put him among the 12 athletes advancing to the final. Hong Kong’s Wong Pak Hang also recorded 7.28 metres but missed qualification after finishing 13th.

The final will be held on Monday (tomorrow). Shooting: Pakistan’s Rabia Kabir finished 41st in the women’s 25-metre pistol qualification at the Aichi Prefecture General Shooting Gallery in Nagoya on Sunday. Kabir scored 278 points with four inner tens (278-4x) in the precision stage, placing her 41st among 44 shooters listed in the official results.
South Korea’s Yang Jiin led the qualification with 292-11x, followed by Iran’s Haniyeh Rostamiyan and Vietnam’s Trinh Thu Vinh, who both scored 291 points. Fencing:Qatar defeated Pakistan 7-5 in fencing men’s epee team competition at the Aichi Sky Expo Hall F on Sunday.
The closely fought bout featured three relay periods, with Qatar establishing an early advantage and maintaining it through the final exchange. Muhammad Abdulali gave Qatar a strong start in the opening relay, outscoring Pakistan’s Abdul Musawir 5-2 and putting Qatar ahead.
Abdulrahman Aljadra then extended the advantage in the second relay, with Qatar reaching 7-5 against Baryal Khan. The third relay between Ali Alkhlif of Qatar and Muhammad Waqas of Pakistan ended without either side adding to the score, leaving Qatar with the overall 7-5 victory.
Qatar’s Youssef Abdel. Tawab was also listed among the team’s fencers, while Pakistan’s Muhammad Yaseen Khan completed its lineup. The match recorded no yellow or red cards.
Both teams received a passivity card during the contest. Qatar now moved into the next stage while Pakistan was eliminated.
