LLAHORE —Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said the opposition’s negotiating committee held talks in good faith and a strong agreement had been prepared, but Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi sabotaged the negotiations.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Naqvi thanked members of the opposition negotiating committee, saying they had negotiated sincerely and a very good agreement had been prepared. He said the agreement was also taken to President Asif Ali Zardari for review, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was kept fully informed about the situation.
Naqvi said, unfortunately, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi sabotaged the negotiations. He said that after the draft had been prepared, Afridi stated that they would not accept it. The interior minister questioned the approach, saying that if all decisions were ultimately to be made by the KP chief minister, he should have participated in the negotiations himself.
