Spanning several decades, relations between the two countries have developed beyond diplomatic, trade and cultural ties to encompass military training, defence cooperation, strategic coordination and security partnership. The longstanding defence cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia has entered a new phase, further strengthening the close ties between the two brotherly countries.
The signing of the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement and the “Makkah Joint Defence Agreement” has further reinforced the defence dimension of Pakistan-Saudi relations. The occasion of Saudi Arabia’s 96th National Day therefore provides an opportunity to highlight the depth and evolving nature of the relationship, which has moved beyond traditional bilateral ties toward a broader strategic partnership.
