LLAHORE —The investigation into Pakistan cricketer Muhammad Rizwan’s alleged links with online betting companies has intensified, with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) examining data from his mobile phone,. Sources said an alleged conversation between Rizwan and the owner of a betting company is also being examined as part of the investigation.
The agency is reviewing digital data and contacts recovered from the cricketer’s phone., Rizwan’s mobile phone was taken from him in the lobby of a hotel during Pakistan’s England tour. He had initially refused to hand over the device at the hotel, sources said.
The NCCIA is conducting forensic examinations of the mobile phones of Rizwan and fellow cricketer Imam-ul-Haq. Investigators are also examining Rizwan’s alleged communication with his agent as part of the ongoing inquiry. The agency’s investigation is focused on alleged online betting and gambling links, as well as financial transactions and digital communications.

Sources have said that messages, contacts and other information from the players’ phones are being analysed. The Lahore High Court recently dismissed Rizwan’s petition challenging the NCCIA notices and directed him to respond to the agency’s questions.
Rizwan has maintained that he has not been informed which online betting activity he is allegedly linked to and has sought details of the allegations against him. The allegations against Rizwan have not been established, while the NCCIA’s investigation and forensic analysis are ongoing.
