Sources said various proposals would also be discussed to curb obscene content circulated under the guise of family vlogging. The government may also consider banning certain social media platforms, similar to measures adopted by several other countries.
The proposals will be discussed at a meeting of the Interior Ministry, after which final decisions will be taken. Officials from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), and federal and provincial police are expected to attend the meeting.
The meeting will review cases involving child exploitation and obscene content and examine social media policies adopted by various countries, including Australia.
