Pakistan opt to field first against Bangladesh in rain-hit Asian Games semifinal

“Pakistan won the toss and elected to field against Bangladesh in the rain-affected Asian Games semifinal at Korogi Athletic Park, with the match reduced to 13 overs per side. Play was delayed as ground…”
Play was delayed as groundstaff worked to clear slushy areas of the outfield and treat a damp patch with dust. The pitch showed several substantial cracks, with conditions expected to favour spin bowling. Both teams therefore opted for three frontline spinners, while Bangladesh also included Mosaddek Hossain and Saif Hassan in their spin options.
Pakistan have Saim Ayub as an additional spin option. Pakistan, led by captain Sahibzada Farhan, fielded Maaz Sadaqat, Usman Khan, Saim Ayub, Hasan Nawaz, Abdul Samad, Arafat Minhas, Ahmed Daniyal, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Abrar Ahmed and Sufyan Moqim.
Bangladesh named Litton Das as captain and wicketkeeper, with Tanzid Hasan, Saif Hassan, Towhid Hridoy, Parvez Hossain Emon, Mosaddek Hossain, Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Shoriful Islam and Mustafizur Rahman completing the playing XI.Under the tournament rules, Pakistan would have automatically qualified for Saturday's gold medal match if the wet conditions had prevented the semifinal from taking place, owing to their higher seeding.
