Pakistan weather office forecasts more rain, flash floods from September 3 to 6

The intensity of the westerly system is expected to increase on September 4 and 5. Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat and other parts of upper Punjab are likely to receive rain and thunderstorms from September 3 to 5, while Kashmir is expected to experience intermittent rain with strong winds and thunderstorms from September 3 to 6.
Some areas may receive heavy rainfall. Occasional heavy to very heavy rain is also expected in parts of upper Punjab, including Okara, Nankana Sahib, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, Faisalabad and Jhang, particularly on September 4 and 5.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, intermittent rain and thunderstorms are expected from the evening or night of September 3 through September 5, with some areas potentially receiving heavy to very heavy rainfall. Gilgit-Baltistan is also likely to receive intermittent rain and thunderstorms from September 3 to 6.

Most areas of Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain hot and humid, although rain and thunderstorms are forecast in Zhob, Barkhan, Musakhel and adjoining areas. The weather office has warned of urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on September 4 and 5.
Similar risks have been identified for low-lying areas of Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Faisalabad and Lahore. Heavy rainfall may also trigger flash floods in local streams and nullahs across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Landslides are also possible in mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir. Tourists and travelers have been advised to exercise caution during the expected adverse weather, while farmers have been urged to plan agricultural activities.
All relevant departments have been directed to remain alert and take necessary precautionary measures to prevent any untoward situation.
