    LLAHORE —Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has received the prestigious UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour Award in Oman for the Punjab government’s flagship housing initiative, Apni Chhat Apna Ghar. The international recognition comes for a programme designed to help eligible residents secure affordable homes across the province.

    The initiative was officially launched on August 21, 2024, with implementation planned over four and a half years. The award was welcomed by senior Punjab government figures, who described the recognition as a significant moment for Pakistan and an acknowledgement of the work behind the housing programme.

    Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said the honour represented global recognition of Maryam Nawaz’s vision and efforts to provide ordinary families with secure housing, dignity and greater economic stability., more than 200,000 homes have already been delivered across Punjab through the initiative. She said the programme was changing lives by creating greater security and opportunities for families.
