Mansehra AC wounded in K-P gun attack

“Two separate gun attacks in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday left a police constable martyred, two people injured and Mansehra Assistant Commissioner Adil Waseem wounded. Waseem was targeted in Nowshera …”
Waseem was targeted in Nowshera district while travelling in his official vehicle, while another attack took place outside a courtroom at the Judicial Complex in Lakki Marwat, where unidentified gunmen opened fire, killing a policeman and injuring two others. Police launched investigations into both incidents and tightened security at the locations.
Waseem came under attack in the Panah Kot area while returning from his native village of Saleh Khana, police officials said. He sustained injuries in the firing and was immediately shifted to hospital, where doctors described his condition as stable.
Muhammad Asim, spokesperson for Peshawar's Lady Reading Hospital, said Waseem was "stable" and receiving medical treatment. Nowshera District Police Officer Sonia Shamroz said the area had been cordoned off immediately after the attack and a search operation launched.

A team had also been constituted to arrest those involved, she added. The DPO further said a case had been registered and an investigation into the incident was under way.
In the separate incident in Lakki Marwat, a police constable was martyred and two other people were injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire outside the courtroom of an additional sessions judge at the Judicial Complex.
District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital spokesperson Jalal Khan said Constable Karamatullah was killed on the spot, while PPP District Information Secretary Advocate Javed Iqbal sustained bullet wounds. Another person, identified as Inshaullah, was also injured in the firing.
Both injured men were shifted to Bannu for medical treatment. Khan confirmed that one body and two injured people had been brought to the hospital. The armed assailants reportedly opened indiscriminate fire outside the courtroom, triggering panic inside the complex.
Lawyers, litigants and other visitors rushed to safety as gunshots rang out. A heavy police contingent arrived at the scene and launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify those responsible.
Authorities subsequently sealed the complex, suspended all entry and exit movements and placed the premises under heightened security. The attack also raised concerns over security at the judicial complex, a sensitive government facility frequented by judges, lawyers, litigants and members of the public.
Investigators are probing the motive behind the attack and working to establish the identities of the assailants. The latest incidents come amid a series of attacks on security personnel and government officials in the province, which has witnessed growing terrorist activity and mounting security challenges in recent years.
