Macklemore performed songs featuring pro Palestinian messages during his first two shows on the tour in September, including references to the violence in Gaza. Kraft, whose Kraft Group owns Gillette Stadium, subsequently pushed for Sheeran to remove Macklemore from the tour.
The American rapper's contract with the tour was later terminated by US promoter Messina Touring Group. Sheeran's remaining opening acts, Finneas, Aaron Rowe and Lukas Graham, also left the tour.
Kraft later announced plans to contribute money to humanitarian organisations working in Gaza. He said advocacy for Palestinians should not come at the expense of the Jewish community. Macklemore is now planning a Free Palestine Tour, with performances expected in Dublin, London and Paris.
Proceeds are set to support Palestinian aid. Lorde has previously expressed support for Palestinians. During her Ultrasound World Tour performance at Madison Square Garden in 2025, she led the crowd in a pro Palestinian chant while performing "Team".
