Naqvi was the chief guest at the final, but the Indian players did not accept the trophy from the ACC president after their victory over defending champions Sri Lanka. The incident echoes a similar controversy involving Indian men’s cricket team last year, when the players refused to receive the trophy from Naqvi during the presentation ceremony.
On the field, however, India produced a dominant performance to defeat Sri Lanka by 72 runs and claim the Women’s Asia Cup title for a record eighth time. Batting first, India posted 183 runs to set Sri Lanka a target of 184.
The defending champions struggled during their chase and were eventually bowled out for 111. Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu top-scored with 36 runs, while Nilakshi de Silva contributed 22. The rest of the Sri Lankan batting lineup failed to mount a serious challenge as India’s bowlers maintained control throughout the innings.

The victory secured another continental title for India, while the trophy presentation became the focus of attention after the Indian team’s decision not to receive the award from the ACC president.
