“Indian captain Shubman Gill produced a breathtaking display of batting in Guwahati on Wednesday, smashing a record-breaking double century against West Indies and becoming only the second batter after…”

Gill reached the landmark in just 117 balls, making it the fastest double century in ODI history. His second 200 came in spectacular fashion, with the right-hander hitting 24 fours and seven sixes as India chased a daunting target of 406.

Gill had previously scored an ODI double century against New Zealand in Hyderabad in 2023. He added another milestone to his remarkable innings by bringing up his 11th ODI century in only 62 balls, with five sixes and 10 fours.

The century was his second in successive ODIs and his third consecutive hundred in ODIs played in India. Only Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, with four consecutive centuries each, have achieved a longer streak in the format on Indian soil.
