    In a post on social media platform X, Gilani said that after nearly two years of efforts, users would no longer have to pay their Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) taxes in a single lump sum.

    Under the reported arrangement, users facing PTA tax bills of around Rs100,000 to Rs250,000 will be able to pay between Rs8,000 and Rs17,000 per month in installments, reducing the immediate financial burden. Gilani said the initiative was aimed at facilitating smartphone users who had struggled to make large upfront payments on imported devices.

    He added that efforts would continue to secure further relief and additional incentives for consumers. The development is being viewed as a significant relief for smartphone users. However, final details regarding the installment terms, repayment period and implementation of the facility are yet to be announced.
