Govt increases petrol, diesel prices for Sept 3

The latest increase comes as international oil prices remain volatile, with changes in global petroleum markets being reflected in domestic fuel rates.
Meanwhile, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has started publishing daily petroleum prices on its website as part of efforts to improve transparency and ensure that fluctuations in international oil prices are passed on to consumers more quickly.
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the daily prices are calculated on the basis of a seven-day average of international market prices, in line with international practice. The move toward daily pricing is aimed at making the petroleum pricing mechanism more transparent while enabling consumers to receive the impact of international market movements more promptly.
