During June and July when the Iran-US confrontation was ongoing and the situation in the Middle East was tense 2330 trucks travelled from Pakistan to Iran during these two months. available to Dunya news around 1209 trucks carrying rice exports travelled from Pakistan to Iran during June and July 2026 and these were sent through the Gabd border crossing, while around 1121 trucks carrying mango exports travelled to Iran through the Taftan border.
Rice exports to Iran are mainly taking place through the Gabd border crossing, while mango exports are being routed through the Taftan border crossing.
On the other hand Pakistan is now seeking to increase and activate trade with Central Asian states and Azerbaijan through the Iran road route. imports from Iran and Central Asian states through the Iran Corridor have also been exempted from the requirement of a Financial Instrument.

Certain goods including food items, medicines and tents among others have been exempted for three months from the Financial Instrument requirement for exports to Iran and for the export of rice to Central Asian states and Azerbaijan through Iran’s land route. The Ministry of Commerce has taken further measures in this regard.
The 10th session of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Trade Committee was held in Islamabad from August 3 to 5 where broad-based bilateral cooperation in bilateral trade, customs, transportation and trade-related sectors was discussed. The two sides also agreed on 24/7 customs operations at all customs crossing points along the Pakistan-Iran border.
Both sides agreed to take necessary measures to enhance the operational capacity of the Gabd-Rimdan and Taftan-Mirjaveh border crossings. Pakistan can increase trade with Central Asian states and Azerbaijan through Iran. With the borders with Afghanistan closed since last year this could prove to be an important trade route.
However the security situation in Balochistan remains extremely poor locally. the security situation from Quetta to Taftan is extremely precarious. Despite the movement of cargo vehicles in FC convoys attacks on cargo vehicles continue to take place, which remains a major issue.
