Saudi Civil Defence later said the danger had passed.on early Sunday, Saudi Arabia's air defence systems intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched toward the eastern region, a spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition announced.

Brig. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said in a statement that Yemen's Houthi group targeted Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province with the missile. He confirmed that the projectile was intercepted and destroyed before reaching its intended target.

At least 33 people were killed and 39 wounded in what the Houthi-run. Saba newsagency said were Saudi airstrikes on a village near Yemen's capital Sanaa on Saturday, in one of the deadliest reported attacks since fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-aligned group resumed in July.

Reuterscould not independently verify the account. Saudi Arabia's Center for International Communication said it was investigating the report. The renewed fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis has shattered a 2022 UN-brokered truce that largely halted attacks between the Saudi-led coalition and the group, which controls Sanaa.

The Houthis have since launched missile and drone attacks on Saudi airports and oil facilities, while Riyadh has carried out airstrikes in Yemen in support of its Yemeni allies. The ministry said the strikes hit homes in the town of Bani Hushaysh, a Houthi stronghold east of Sanaa, and that most of those killed were women and children.

Abdul-Aziz al-Dailami, director of Sehatuna Hospital in Sanaa, said many victims remained trapped under the rubble, including first responders. "The strikes keep coming. Just as rescuers arrive, another strike hits.

We have even lost some of our own medical responders, who have been martyred," he told. Reuters. "We received a number of wounded individuals in very critical condition, with injuries to the head, chest and legs, as well as fractures," al-Dailami added.

Yemeni army says it carried out over 800 operations against Houthis. Yemeni government forces said on Saturday that they carried out 875 operations against the Houthis in recent hours, claiming to have killed or incapacitated 130 fighters and commanders.

Military spokesman Majed al-Nazili said in a statement on the X that the operations targeted Houthi positions, reinforcements and military equipment as part of Operation Dawn of Yemen. He said warplanes, drones, and artillery supported the operations, which destroyed or damaged 50 military vehicles and pieces of equipment, including missile launchers.

In southwestern Taiz province, government troops and allied Popular Resistance fighters continued to repel Houthi attacks and target the group’s positions and movements. Other units attacked Houthi positions and reinforcements in Marib and Al-Jawf provinces.

The army also reported continued operations by government-aligned forces on southern and western fronts. The military said its forces were taking precautions to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure. The Houthis did not immediately comment on the Yemeni military’s statement.
