The lawsuit also names Cornell University and other organisations and individuals as defendants. The report states that the woman reported the alleged incident to Cornell University Police in November 2024. Pugh addressed the case in a lengthy Instagramstatement, calling for greater accountability and support for the alleged victim.
She wrote, “Colleges/schools/universities repeatedly fail women around the world.”She also stated, “Those that protect and lightly sentence men that rape and destroy, should be punished and watched closely.”The actress laterclaimedthat Instagram had removed her post, writing, “Instagram decided to block my post from getting in front of the right people. Tut tut tut.

One of the accused has denied the allegations through his attorney. The Tompkins County District Attorney’s Office reportedly found “insufficient evidence” to support criminal charges. The case remains the subject of legal proceedings and public discussion.
