Addressing a meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Afghanistan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Ishaq Dar called for preventing Afghan soil from being used for terrorism against Pakistan and stressed the need for concrete and verifiable measures in this regard.
He expressed deep concern over the presence of terrorist groups inside Afghanistan, and spoke of the grave threat of terrorism, recalling the recent terrorist attack in Kohat. Ishaq Dar said that immediate and concrete action is needed against terrorist groups and their sanctuaries, and that the Taliban regime should abide by Afghanistan's international obligations and commitments.
The Foreign Minister, while reiterating Pakistan's support for a stable and prosperous Afghanistan, also said that the Taliban should also lift restrictions on women and girls.
