The prime minister left Islamabad on September 16 and travelled to London before proceeding to New York to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
His address at the UNGA was the key engagement of his visit, during which he highlighted Pakistan’s position on regional security, water rights, global conflicts and the need for diplomatic efforts to promote peace. Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz reached London from New York a few days ago and was expected to depart for Pakistan on Tuesday morning.
The prime minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers and senior officials during his New York visit. During his stay in the United States, Shehbaz held a significant meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, where they discussed regional peace, bilateral cooperation and de-escalation in the Middle East.

The ongoing conflict involving Iran and the United States, particularly concerns surrounding the security of the Strait of Hormuz, also remained a major issue during discussions among world leaders. Shehbaz also met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and discussed climate change, Islamophobia and regional security.
In addition, the prime minister held meetings with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, the Chairman of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Presidency, and leaders from Kenya and Austria. The discussions focused on economic cooperation, bilateral relations and multilateral issues.
The prime minister’s return will mark the conclusion of his extended diplomatic tour of the UK and US.
