The decision represents South Korea's first victory in the full hearing of an international investor claim, the ministry said in a statement. The case centred on Min's claim of violation of protections under an investment treaty between South Korea and China arising from a lender's seizure and sale of pledged shares tied to a failed Beijing property project.
The original tribunal dismissed the claim in 2024, saying the investment was illegal and therefore not covered by the treaty. The annulment panel also ordered Min to pay South Korea's legal costs of about 1.5 billion won for the annulment matter, the ministry said.
