Farhan recently led Pakistan’s T20 side at the Asian Games, and Head Coach Mike Hesson is reportedly in favour of continuing with him as captain in the shortest format. If approved, Farhan would replace Salman Ali Agha as Pakistan’s T20 captain.
Sources said the selection committee is also considering giving opportunities to several young players during the series as part of preparations for the future. The team management is reportedly working on developing a wider pool of players with the 2028 T20 World Cup in mind.
Experienced players Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf are not expected to be included in the squad for the Sri Lanka series. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are scheduled to play three T20 internationals in Rawalpindi on October 9, 11 and 13.
