SSHARJAH —A woman in Sharjah approached family guidance authorities seeking a divorce after complaining that her husband was not interested in taking her out for trips, outings or recreational activities., the incident was discussed by Dr Raziya Hassan Al Raisi, director of the Family Guidance Department at Sharjah Courts, during a television programme.

Dr Al Raisi said the woman approached the Family Guidance Service and complained that her husband preferred staying at home and showed little interest in taking her along for outings or travel. The woman also acknowledged her husband’s positive qualities, describing him as generous, patient and well-mannered.

However, she said his reluctance to leave home for recreational activities had become a source of concern for her. The Sharjah Family Guidance Department advised the woman that she could go out for recreational activities with her siblings and family members and urged her not to make a decision about divorce solely over the issue.

Officials also encouraged the woman to give importance to mutual understanding and compromise in married life and avoid allowing differences over lifestyle preferences to disturb the peace of the household.

Dr Al Raisi said differences in lifestyle and preferences for recreation between spouses can sometimes become a source of frustration, but not every disagreement should lead to the end of a marriage. She further advised against turning every minor disagreement into a legal or family dispute, particularly when there is no serious problem affecting the marital relationship.
