IISLAMABAD —Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called for stronger coordination among government institutions to increase Pakistan’s exports and expand access to international markets by making better use of the European Union’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) framework.

Chairing an inter-ministerial meeting on Wednesday, Dar reviewed measures to promote trade and exports, with discussions focusing on improving trade facilitation, raising the quality of Pakistani products and meeting international commitments. The meeting also examined obligations under international agreements covering human rights, labour rights and environmental governance.

Dar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to coordinated action among relevant institutions and directed officials to maintain efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s position in global markets. Dar reviews wheat supply and food security. Separately, Dar chaired a meeting of the Wheat Steering Committee to assess the country’s overall grain availability and consider import planning to ensure an uninterrupted domestic supply of wheat.
