IISLAMABAD —Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices have surged across Pakistan, including Rawalpindi, as gas shortages drive up demand and increase operating costs for hotels and small businesses.
Hotel owners say the price of an LPG cylinder that previously cost Rs18,000 has risen to between Rs25,000 and Rs26,000. They added that the price per kilogram of LPG has climbed from around Rs400 to more than Rs600. The sharp increase has placed additional pressure on businesses already struggling with rising expenses.
Hotel operators say higher fuel costs are affecting daily operations, making it increasingly difficult to cover routine expenditures and maintain business activity. Small traders have also expressed concern that the rising cost of cooking fuel is adding to the financial strain caused by broader inflation.

Consumers are facing the indirect impact as businesses contend with higher operating costs. Hotel owners have urged the government to take immediate notice of the price increases and review LPG rates. They called for measures to bring prices to a reasonable level and prevent further losses to small businesses.
