September 27 will show how state enforces its writ, says Talal Chaudhry

Speaking during a television programme, Talal Chaudhry said the government and state authorities had the full authority to take all necessary measures to maintain the state’s writ during the PTI’s planned Islamabad march. His remarks come amid preparations for the September 27 protest and recent court directions concerning the proposed march.

He said the government did not want to be forced into taking strict measures against the PTI over its return to Islamabad, adding that the situation on September 27 would make clear how the state establishes its writ.

Criticising the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, Chaudhry said the provincial chief minister avoided attending the prime minister’s quarterly meetings on counterterrorism, but turned to the federal government when seeking an increased share under the NFC Award and additional funds.

He further said the PTI-led provincial government had so far received Rs700 billion under the NFC, adding that it was responsible for providing a complete account of the funds. He urged the provincial government to focus on the proper utilisation of these resources and its performance instead of political sit-ins and marches.
