    LLAHORE At least 1,060 people have been bitten by snakes in Punjab this year, with six of them losing their lives, 1122 report covering the period from January 1 to August 31, 2026.

    The report showed that 614 men and 446 women were among those affected by snakebites during the period., snakebite incidents increase during the monsoon season as water accumulates in low-lying areas and informal settlements, prompting snakes to move towards populated areas in search of dry and safer places.

    The Wildlife Department spokesperson advised citizens to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from snakes, particularly during the rainy season.
