PKLI Rawalpindi performs first successful kidney transplant

The kidney was donated by the patient’s 26-year-old brother, Ans Asghar. The transplant was successfully performed by Dr Asad Bashir, Dr Ali Abid Nazar and Dr Nasrullah. The procedure was completed without complications, with both the patient and donor reported to be in stable condition.
The patient and his donor are unemployed, while their father is a retired police constable. The successful kidney transplant enabled the deserving family to receive comprehensive treatment free of cost. PKLI Rawalpindi had previously performed two successful liver transplants. On August 25, a resident of Rajanpur received a liver donated by his nephew, while on August 26, a resident of Kallar Syedan received a liver donated by his sister.

Both liver transplant patients are reported to be in good health. The two liver transplants were performed by Professor Dr Faisal Saud Dar, Dr Ehsan-ul-Haq and Dr Bilal Ahmed Khan.
