PTI to march on Islamabad on Sept 27 for 'rights', Barrister Gohar says

Talking to the media in Islamabad, Gohar welcomed the Islamabad High Court’s decision concerning PTI founder Imran Khan and said the party only wanted implementation of court orders regarding meetings with him. He claimed PTI leaders had not been allowed to meet Imran Khan for 320 days.

Gohar said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi would lead the September 27 protest. “We are not coming to conquer Islamabad, but to seek our rights,” he said, adding that PTI would not use state or provincial resources or attempt to break the gates of Adiala Jail.

The PTI chairman said the party had approached courts and also raised its concerns in parliament and the Senate, but its grievances had not been addressed. He called on the state to take steps to reduce political tensions and demanded that Imran Khan be shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

Gohar said PTI was a political party that wanted Pakistan to progress and maintained that it had never sought to obstruct important diplomatic developments. He also called for political dialogue, warning that closing political avenues would further restrict the system.

Gohar said PTI would invite other political parties to join the protest, while the opposition alliance would continue to hold the government accountable inside parliament and jointly raise public issues outside the legislature.
