The implementation of the proposed package, however, will be subject to approval by JI’s technical committee. The government delegation has also assured JI leaders that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is on board with the proposed measures.
Sources said the prime minister is expected to meet with the JI leadership after returning to the country and may also contact the party leadership directly. JI sources said a temporary pause in the long march could be considered if the government demonstrates seriousness in providing relief to the public.

During the negotiations, a government representative reportedly said that Jamaat-e-Islami is a party representing the people and that the government would welcome any measures aimed at providing relief to the public. JI leader Liaquat Baloch said that providing relief to the people was the primary reason behind the movement.
He added that if the government is serious about addressing public concerns, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would have to become directly involved in the negotiations.
