Barrister Gohar confirms contact with Mohsin Naqvi, says PTI is not holding talks with government or through any backchannel currently. ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – …

IISLAMABAD Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has said he remains in contact with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, adding that he has never denied having contact with him. Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar said the party would not share details of its contacts with Naqvi.

He said dialogue was the policy of PTI founder Imran Khan, adding that only the former prime minister would decide with whom, when and on what terms negotiations should take place. “We do not take any step without the consent of the PTI founder,” he said.

Barrister Gohar said PTI had always advocated negotiations and had formed committees for the purpose, but the government had failed to demonstrate seriousness. He said the party’s stance had been perceived as a sign of weakness.

“At present, neither are negotiations taking place with the government nor is there any backchannel contact,” he said. However, he stressed that while the legal matters would continue, negotiations should take place soon to find a political solution.

“If talks are to be held, they should be conducted with seriousness and sincerity. There should be no policy of saying, ‘We will think about it and let you know,’” the PTI chairman said. Responding to a question about a letter written by the prime minister, Barrister Gohar said, “The prime minister had written a letter.

    Finally, we have received it.”
