“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lacks the public support to take its long march beyond Attock, warning that the provincial government wou…”

Speaking to a private television channel, Kundi said the PTI could not move beyond Attock and challenged the party to demonstrate its claimed public support. “Where are the two million people?” he asked, claiming that the PTI did not have enough people to carry out the march.

The governor alleged that the PTI was no longer a conventional political party and accused its leadership of damaging the province. He also claimed that the provincial government had failed to establish control over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Kundi said the province was facing a serious security crisis, yet the PTI was focusing on marching towards Islamabad instead of addressing militancy. He also expressed concerns about security during the long march, questioning whether the PTI had any mechanism to prevent an individual from entering Islamabad with malicious intentions during the protest.

Referring to his recent meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the governor said security conditions, negotiations with the PTI and the planned long march were among the issues discussed.

Kundi accused the KP government of maintaining a “mysterious silence” over terrorist attacks and alleged that whenever the federal government sought cooperation against militancy, the provincial administration called for the withdrawal of the military from the province and negotiations with Afghanistan.

He also criticised former prime minister Imran Khan, alleging that militants had been settled in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during his tenure. On the possibility of imposing governor’s rule in the province, Kundi said it would remain a “last resort” and that no one wanted such a step.

“Governor’s rule is always the last option,” he said, adding that the provincial situation should ideally continue through normal constitutional and political processes. However, he made it clear that if President and Prime Minister decide to impose governor’s rule, the provincial administration would implement the decision.
