Addressing a public gathering in Gujranwala, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to assess the public mood and provide immediate relief to the people. He said the government had only one option: abolishing the levy.
He warned that if the levy tax was not withdrawn, the matter would be decided on the streets of Islamabad. The JI emir said a massive number of people would march towards the federal capital and enter the city from all directions.
Hafiz Naeem said that Jamaat-e-Islami had taken to the streets to fight for the rights of the country's 250 million people. He also criticised the government's position on petrol prices, saying the government had claimed helplessness regarding a reduction in the price of petrol.
